Planning on popping the question and want to make sure it’s unforgettable? It is sure to be one of the most memorable moments of your life and it’s hard not to feel the pressure. Once you have the perfect engagement ring at the ready, make sure you find somewhere equally as special that is worthy of your magical moment.
Here are our top four places to pop the question.
One World Observatory – New York
If city breaks are your style, New York is one of the most exciting in the world. Whether you want to shop ‘til you drop, visit the world-famous museums, or simply grab a slice of pizza, the big apple has it all. With an excitement that never dies, it is no wonder that it is one of the most popular proposal destinations in the world.
We recommend taking a trip to the One World Observatory at night, the tallest building in the Western Hemisphere standing at 1,776 ft tall. Hitch a ride up the 102 stories inside the SkyPod Elevators that speed to the top in just 47 seconds. Step out to see remarkable 360-degree views of the entire city, which are particularly breath-taking at night, as the dazzling lights twinkle for miles in every direction.
Ammoudi Bay – Santorini
The spectacular sunsets in Santorini attract visitors from across the globe. Most head to the small town of Oia, but this can get very crowded, and no-one wants a random tourist photobombing their proposal. We’d recommend heading to Amoudi Bay, a small port at the foot of Oia. It boasts impressive red cliffs that hold up the crisp whitewashed buildings looking over the ocean. Pick a local taverna and watch the sunset light the sky in magnificent tones of orange, pink and blue before it dips down below the horizon. It’s guaranteed to create a romantic atmosphere perfect for your proposal.
Northern Lights – Iceland
If you’re after a completely unique proposal spot, then book a trip to Reykjavik, Iceland. What better way to propose than under the sparkling Northern Lights? The key to this destination is choosing the right time of year, as you have much higher chance of seeing the lights in the winter months. From October to March, darkness sets in from around 6pm giving you maximum opportunity to catch the light show in all its glory. Make sure you and your loved one take plenty of layers as temperatures can drop to into the minus figures. The benefit of the cold is you can cosy up by the fire or take a dip in one the famous natural hot springs to warm up.
Runyon Canyon – Los Angeles
If you’re after the picture-perfect place, Runyon Canyon will not disappoint. Head up the hillside on a three-mile round trip offering spectacular views of the entire city. You will be sure to spot the world-famous Hollywood Sign, many millionaire mansions and the Sunset Strip. The great thing about this trail is it is relatively short and easy, taking about an hour and a half to complete, so you don’t need to be an expert hiker to enjoy the Hollywood Hills. Head up there late afternoon to catch the cities transition from day to night, watching the sunset and the city light up ready for its bustling nightlife. You are sure to create a magical moment you’ll never forget.
